Pencil Vase Bouquet

Our Teacher Appreciation
is actually this week in Orlando...
In Goosie Girl's school
the first day is flowers...
Each child is to bring in a flower
to make a bouquet for the teacher...
Well last night, after getting home from the beach,
I'm combing the house for unsharpened pencils...
Because I can't be a typical Mom and just send in a flower...
I have to create a pencil vase that I remember seeing...
If you have all the pencils handy...
it is extremely easy to make...
(Simply glue the pencils around the vase
with a hot glue gun)
Of course I didn't have a thin, small vase
so I improvised with a favorite sweet tea bottle...
It turned out identical to this...
The only difference...Goosie Girl picked out pinky, red flowers
and we used a black/white striped ribbon...
I definitely will be making this again!
It really turned out adorable!

Caramel Soaked French Toast

I just made this
for a volunteer breakfast we are having at school...
It is absolutely D-I-V-I-N-E!
I make it for everything...
Christmas morning breakfast (every year)...
brunches...
whenever I need a breakfast item...
this is my go-to...
So simple and so scrumptious...
And it ALWAYS gets rave reviews...
I'm serious...people hunt me down to get the recipe...
I hope you enjoy!

Caramel Soaked French Toast
(Southern Living Five Star Recipes)
Ingredients:
1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar
3/4 cup butter
1/4 cup plus 2 TB light corn syrup
loaf of french bread cut in slices
4 large eggs
2-1/2 cups milk or half & half
(I use whatever kind of milk I have on hand)
1 TB vanilla
3 TB sugar
1-1/2 TSP ground cinnamon
1/4 cup butter melted

Directions:
Combine the first 3 ingredients in a medium saucepan.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly,
5 minutes or until mixture is bubbly.
Pour syrup mixture evenly into a lightly greased 13x9 baking dish.
Arrange bread slices over syrup.
**I usually slice the bread and then cut the slice in half**
Combine eggs and next 3 ingredients; stir well.
Gradually pour mixture over bread slices.
Cover and chill for at least 8 hours.
Combine 3 TB sugar and cinnamon; stir well.
Sprinkle evenly over soaked bread.
Drizzle 1/4 cup melted butter over bread.
Bake, uncovered, at 350 for 45-50 minutes
or until golden and bubbly.
Serve immediately.

Pink and Black Pretties

When I am planning for a party,
like the baby shower I'm hosting on Saturday,
I love to do research to help get me inspired...
Here's some of the pink & black pretties
that caught my eye along the way...
Do you think this is too formal to wear to the shower?
 Are these gorgeous or what?!
Could you imagine having a closet like this?
I'm absolutely beside myself with envy!
 Exquisite personified...
Seriously, I want this room!
This reminds me of old Hollywood glamour...
 Just beautiful...
Perfect winter attire for a shopping day...
Or any day for that matter...

Recycling Your Favorite Paper Scraps

I adore paper...
wrapping, scrapbook, stationery, napkins...
You name it, I like it...
I'm totally loving this idea from Design Sponge...
It uses up scraps of paper
that you didn't know what you were going to do with...
adds some prettiness to the ordinary...
and is super easy...
Take a peek...
All you need is Modge Podge, a paintbrush, scissors, paper scraps
and the ordinary...
like a jar, pencil, something you'd like to add
a little bling too...
