A Little Of This And A Little Of That

It's hard to believe that New Year's Eve is tomorrow...
Say goodbye to 2010 and hello 2011...
Here is some inspiration I found
that would be fabulous to incorporate
into your New Year's countdown
or even your New Year's day festivities...

Love these sugar rimmed glasses...
It adds such glamour...
New-Years-Eve-Glamorous-Cocktails-and-Desserts
Of course no celebration would be complete without Champagne...
especially my favorite...Veuve Clicquot...

This is such a festive table setting...
That is just a paper clock under the glass plate...
I just love how she did that!

Aren't these toppers just the best?
And then of course I adore anything by Anders Ruff...
especially this little set up of cocktails and sweets...

A Meal Of Plenty

Who would like a dose of Luck and Prosperity
for the new year ahead?
Then you might want to consider dining
on black eyed peas New Year's day...
This is an old southern tradition
that still holds strong today...
Add some greens (mustard, collard) with it
and that is suppose to represent Currency...
Definitely don't forget the ham...
it represents Wealth...
And of course you must have a wedge of corn bread...
that represents Gold...
Add them all together and you have a meal of plenty
which will hopefully give you a fabulous year...

Of course I'll take all the luck, prosperity & wealth I can
so of course this is served at our house...
I prefer to make Hoppin John
which incorporates all of the above into one pot...

Ingredients:
(Adapted from 2 Southern Living Recipes)
1 onion chopped
1 green bell pepper chopped
2 tablespoons olive oil
1-1/2 cups cooked rice
1 can collard greens drained
1 - 15 oz can black eyed peas rinsed & drained
1 can diced tomatoes
1 cup diced cooked ham
(I usually buy a half of spiral ham in the meat section
and then just chop about half of it up
and save the other half for another meal)
1/2 teaspoon sugar

Directions:
Saute the onion and green pepper in a large pan or dutch oven
until tender.  Add the rest of the ingredients and cook over medium heat until hot.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
Voila'...
Easy, yummy and hopefully lucky...
(P.S. - I have hot sauce on the table for doctoring...)

Oh and don't forget to add a tad of sugar to your cornbread too...
It makes all the difference...

A New Year Accessory - Goosie Girl Headbands

Here's a little golden bling to wear
for the big countdown to the New Year...
A Goosie Girl headband...
What's great is that the rosettes are adhered
 to the headband with velcro
which means you can mix and match colors easily...
After all it's about making life pretty...
Perhaps gold is not your thing...
Might you like a black & white one better?
It does go with everything...
Or what about silver with a touch of black?
This one is my staple that I wear all the time...
I just love it...
Add a pair of simple sparkly earrings
and you have instant glamour...
Sometimes I'll add a raspberry colored rosette with the silver
for a duo with a splash of color...
Do you prefer stretchy or wide?
I definitely enjoy the stretchy...
but of course it's whatever you'd like...
Now...
Are you ready to sport a Goosie Girl headband?
Please feel free to peruse Goosie Girl's shop on Etsy...
all you have to do is click here...

Do you need one for the New Year's party you're attending?
It can always be shipped via Priority mail...
All you have to do is let me know...
And of course custom orders are always welcomed...

My Class Holiday Party

Oh thank the Lord for winter break!
Well...
For my class holiday party I decided to do a theme of
sweets & treats...
It couldn't have gone over any better!
While the children were at specials,
I set up as fast as I could so it would be ready for them
upon their arrival...
Their responses as they returned were exactly what I had hoped for...
Ooohhss, Aaaahhhs, Oh my gosh!  Look at all that candy!
None of them had ever seen  a dessert table before...
This is what it looked like when they started...
There was NOTHING left at the end...except crumbs...
A good time was had by all...
Please forgive my non existent photography skills...
A parent had sent in styro cups for the hot chocolate...
They were brown and ugly...
I covered them in wrapping paper for instant cuteness!
 Wrapped Hershey bars...
They even tried to eat my peppermint tree
I made for decoration...
 Cookies, M&M's...
Now I see where children get it the whole not following directions...
I asked for chocolate & vanilla cupcakes with WHITE icing...
I got Princess cupcakes with pink, blue & yellow icing...
Oh well...
And GASP...I left the one right in the middle without a liner!!!
I made these little guys
to go along with the reindeer theme...
 Red & green giant gumballs...

The straws were a big hit too...
They had hot chocolate with whip cream
and then could add their own marshmallows...
 The Princess reindeer cupcakes...

I was surprised, the donuts were a HUGE hit too...
I had covered a bulletin board with wrapping paper
to set behind the table as a back drop...
The kids all wanted to know "what & who that present was for"...
And as they rode out of sight...
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
The End!

Santa Sacks

While perusing over at Design Dazzle...
I stumbled across these precious Santa Sacks...
I love this idea...
Each child leaves out a "Santa Sack" on Christmas Eve night
and when Santa comes
he puts his presents for them in each of their sacks...
I like it because "Santa" doesn't wrap his gifts
at our house and this would be a neat way
for "him" to display them...

A Homemade Gift

I remember seeing this last year from Design Dazzle
and was most impressed then...
So I was quite happy when I stumbled across it again...
I love this idea as a gift...
Cookie dough...
It doesn't sound that exciting but for a neighbor or coworker
that likes to enjoy homemade cookies but not "make" them
this is perfect!
And notice how fabulous these look all bundled up
and ready to go...
