Hello 2012

The first Monday of 2012...
Pinned Image
It's time to buckle down & get busy...
I've got my eyes set & focused on Goosie Girl...
My goal is to be flourishing so that I can "retire" from teaching
at the end of the school year...
(sshhh...don't tell my principal!)
and do Goosie Girl full time...
Pinned Image
Why not?
It's what I love
and am always thinking, researching & learning about...
So with much prayer, I think the time is now...

And I can't wait...

Enjoy A Happy New Year With A Meal Of Plenty

Happy New Year Friends!
Did you have your meal of plenty today...
you know your black eyed peas...ham...greens...cornbread...
The Graham family always does every year...
We even added a Lauren McKinsey touch to this one...
Do you know what the different items represent?
It's very interesting...take a peek and eat up!
Are you looking for a dose of Luck and Prosperity
for the new year ahead?
Then you might want to consider dining
on black eyed peas New Year's day...
Add some greens (mustard, collard) with it
and that is suppose to represent Currency...
Definitely don't forget the ham...
it represents Wealth...
And of course you must have a wedge of corn bread...
that represents Gold...
Add them all together and you have a meal of plenty
which will hopefully give you a fabulous year...
Don't forget dessert either...
there's always room for
pretty & delicious Goosie Girl cookies...

Sweet Friday - New Year's Cookies

WOW...
Can you believe it's time to ring in another new year?
I thought there would be nothing better to celebrate
than with sweets & sparkle...
No luster dust for this chick...
I went for the real deal...disco dust...aka glitter...
Because isn't the new year a time to get your shine back on?
Shiny & sparkly is definitely the way to go...

Do you make New Year's resolutions?
I love the whole idea of lofty goals
but I try to keep mine somewhat simple
so that maybe I can actually attain them...
One big definite on my list is to grow Goosie Girl
so be watching for all the fun planned with doing this...
I'm also liking these from Kate Spade...
Goosie Girl wishes you an absolutely fabulous New Year
filled with

Health and Happiness,
Prettiness and Cheer,

Prosperity and
Good Fortune!

A Little Of This And A Little Of That

It's hard to believe that New Year's Eve is tomorrow...
Say goodbye to 2010 and hello 2011...
Here is some inspiration I found
that would be fabulous to incorporate
into your New Year's countdown
or even your New Year's day festivities...

Love these sugar rimmed glasses...
It adds such glamour...
New-Years-Eve-Glamorous-Cocktails-and-Desserts
Of course no celebration would be complete without Champagne...
especially my favorite...Veuve Clicquot...

This is such a festive table setting...
That is just a paper clock under the glass plate...
I just love how she did that!

Aren't these toppers just the best?
And then of course I adore anything by Anders Ruff...
especially this little set up of cocktails and sweets...

A Meal Of Plenty

Who would like a dose of Luck and Prosperity
for the new year ahead?
Then you might want to consider dining
on black eyed peas New Year's day...
This is an old southern tradition
that still holds strong today...

Of course I'll take all the luck, prosperity & wealth I can
so of course this is served at our house...
I prefer to make Hoppin John
which incorporates all of the above into one pot...

Ingredients:
(Adapted from 2 Southern Living Recipes)
1 onion chopped
1 green bell pepper chopped
2 tablespoons olive oil
1-1/2 cups cooked rice
1 can collard greens drained
1 - 15 oz can black eyed peas rinsed & drained
1 can diced tomatoes
1 cup diced cooked ham
(I usually buy a half of spiral ham in the meat section
and then just chop about half of it up
and save the other half for another meal)
1/2 teaspoon sugar

Directions:
Saute the onion and green pepper in a large pan or dutch oven
until tender.  Add the rest of the ingredients and cook over medium heat until hot.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
Voila'...
Easy, yummy and hopefully lucky...
(P.S. - I have hot sauce on the table for doctoring...)

Oh and don't forget to add a tad of sugar to your cornbread too...
It makes all the difference...

A New Year

Aaaahhhh...2010....
A New Year...
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! Now it's off and running, right?
Goosie GIrl has taken this past week to recharge, reflect & think...
She is somewhat confused.
Unsure of what she is suppose to be doing...
Cards, invitations & stationery?
Cookies?
Parties?
Flowers?
All of the above?
None of the above?
No...she definitely knows something creative...

I've been dabbling in all these different things, trying to get something going but nothing has quite taken off the way Goosie Girl would like...
What do I do?
Goosie Girl l-o-v-e-s what she does
but she wants everyone to want Goosie Girl products...such a conundrum, no?
A wonderful road full of possibilities ready for the taking...
Goosie Girl may add or delete products as she tries to find her way.
Goosie Girl would love to hear any suggestions that you may have for her...
Goosie Girl is not down by any means.
She is just in a tad of flux and ready to spread her wings and fly.
Goosie Girl also knows that she is not in charge
and that there is a plan for her...
a great plan that will show itself, when the time is right...

Rest assured, Goosie Girl will be working hard,
moving forward and looking to bring you lots of sweet things...

Calendars

The start of a new year...
Exciting isn't it?
All the possibilities...
A chance to improve, try something different...
Organize...

Get a new calendar...

I know that sounds dumb but I love picking out that perfect calendar for the new year. Finding one that is going to hold all my (& the family's) obligations. One that I'm going to look at daily to make sure that I'm not forgetting anything.

This year I have picked out something different....I wonder what that means? I usually go with a pin up calendar that I just fold that shows the entire month...this year I have chosen a Lilly Pulitzer daily/monthly planner that is portable...one that is spiral, has pockets & is completely adorable, of course...

In addition to that calendar, my mother-in-law always gets me a 5x7, Susan Wallace Barnes calendar that sits on my desk in the kitchen. You put each month into an easel frame and it just sits there so pretty ready to be looked at at any time. The picture always corresponds with the month. I just love it! I hope GG gets me one this year too.
