Goosie Girl's Teacher's Birthday

For some reason I woke up this morning thinking about Goosie Girl's teacher, Mrs. Qualls', birthday which is November 21st. I started contemplating what I (being the homeroom mom) could do for her special day. An article from my favorite magazine, Southern Lady, came to mind. I went to my bookshelf to fish it out and here's what I came up with as some little treats...

Possibly the best magazine ever!!!
Here's where the article began...

I absolutely adore this tablescape! I was already thinking that I needed to recreate this for her lunch...
A small chalkboard to use as a placemat. I could go to Homegoods and find an inexpensive (and festive) plate, cloth napkin, glass & dessert pedestal to put her lunch on. Maybe from Panera? How sweet would that be? And what teacher wouldn't love being pampered like this?

And maybe this arrangement for her desk? Again, get an inexpensive square vase, line the inside with apple slices (I love this technique), for the teacher, & put in some pretty flowers. Could be an arrangement of different flowers or all the same. But what a lovely statement it makes. I've done this with cranberries in the vase at Christmas and it is beautiful!
I've come to the conclusion that gifts don't have to be expensive to make a statement. It's the attention to detail that people notice and appreciate...

** I hope Mrs. Qualls' doesn't read this! wink, wink **

Wedding Invites

I have been a busy bee lately, no? I just finished these wedding invites for a December wedding. The colors they are incorporating are black, cream/ivory, silver and gold. I used a black pocketfold with cream inserts and the cream paper with black, silver & gold sparkles and a black satin bow...

I love pocketfold invitations! I love how they are so chic and keep everything in place...
To keep the pocketfold closed I made a tag with the bride & groom's names in the same papers as used inside...
The inside look...I love the sparkly paper on the left half with the black satin bow...
Inserts neatly tucked in...

A larger pic...

The inserts out & about...

A close up of the inserts...The wonderful thing about pocketfolds is it doesn't matter how many inserts you have/need. They all fit perfectly...

Boy or Girl? Baby Shower Invites

I just finished some baby shower invitations. It is going to be a tea party and...the gender of the baby will be revealed at the shower. How fun is that? These were done on a nursery rhyme fabric backing (which I love) and I used a half pink & half blue border with the white card with the same pink & blue writing and added a pink & blue sparkly cow on the top. Very baby and very cute! My client also wanted an insert added asking that instead of attaching a card, how about a book for Baby Taylor's library instead. I used the same theme except made it smaller. I then tied them together using a pink & blue ribbon. For the envelopes, I lined them with the nursery rhyme print and printed the addresses in blue and the return address in pink and added the same sparkly cow to the front of the envelope for a fun detail. I would love to receive this in the mail, wouldn't you?

Goosie Girl's Birthday Party

Well....I'm pleased to say Goosie Girl's birthday party was a success! And....I'm so glad that it's over!! You don't realize (or you forget) all the preparation it takes to have a party. It was worth it though...Goosie Girl loved it and I do believe all the other girls were rather impressed as well. Here are the pics...

The emulation of the "Amy Atlas Dessert Table"
This was a make-your-own sundae bar

The orange bags were filled with popcorn for the movie. I bought orange bags, painted the top black, put the popcorn in, twisted the top and tied with black ribbon. Simple yet festive!
As you know I looooove polka dots. I found these adorable pitches and plates at HomeGoods. The pitchers held the chocolate syrup and caramel sauce for the sundaes. The plates were for the cherries. The orange cake pops were from Bakerella. They were suppose to have pumpkin faces but the edible decorating pen didn't work so hot so I left them plain. They still looked cute and they were delish! I covered the white stick in black/white polka dot ribbon. The sundae toppings were put in black Happy Halloween containers that I found in the dollar section at Target. The black trays were also from Target.

This was the ultimate kids meal...Chick-Fil-A chicken nuggets, Kraft mac & cheese, Fruit, and Potato chips & dip

The pumpkin was painted with black polka dots and tied with a black/white polka dotted ribbon. The candles on each side of the pumpkin were vases that I bought at Walmart for like $4.00 each. I painted them with black polka dots as well, glued some fluff to the top, put a candle inside of a smaller holder and put that in the middle of the vase and poured in candy corn. The girls thought that was really cool that I put real candy corn in there. You know sometimes we don't think that they appreciate or care when things are decorated or not but they really do. All twelve girls that we had really studied the table and the details and commented to me about how much they really liked it...

Another pumpkin that I painted polka dots on to keep the flow...

Goosie Girl's birthday cake...She picked out the cake pan and was very specific that she wanted bold colors on there. I was trying to convince her to keep the halloween colors...no such luck. It did turn out cute and she looooved it which is all that mattered.

Actually this was quite easy to make and decorate...

My mother-in-law playing DJ...and Goosie Girl (in the gray in front of the tv) and the other girls getting jiggy with it...

We moved the dining room table into the kitchen which served as my dessert table. This room became the sleeping room, not that there was much sleeping going on...At 2:00 am I hear them in Goosie Girl's room so I go in there and I see them slamming pixie sticks...AT 2 AM!!!! Needless to say they didn't quiet down until about 3:30ish am...a long night for all...in the morning I made regular and chocolate chip pancakes for the girls. I'll post the recipe for the pancakes...easy and absolutely delicious...from the Barefoot Contessa.

Oh and we also had a bounce house to help them expend some of their energy...A great time was had by all...Hope you enjoyed seeing the pics!

Exhausted

Okay, this is the first time I've sat down today and it's 10:30 at night. I have been working on Goosie Girl's party since 8:30 this morning. Tomorrow's the big night. I've gotten most everything done (which is how I like it) so hopefully tomorrow will go smoothly. I'll post pics after.

I've been dreaming about relaxing on my most favorite, beautiful beach ever...Captiva! Sitting under an umbrella, listening to the lovely waves, watching the seagulls and pelicans overhead, sipping at fruity drink. Just relaxing...being...enjoying...

Someone, please sign me up!!

Witchy Tablescape

Just found another wonderful blog, Maddycakes Muse. How wickedly wonderful is this tablescape? Again, inexpensive yet festive. You gotta love it!...

I'm loving the pumpkin attached to the flower!
What a fabulous plate charger! Stock up now for next year (everything is being put on sale).
Okay, I'm just loving this glass ensemble! A little fluff on the bottom of the glass, sitting on top of a turned over candle holder with a skeleton underneath...simply precious!
Stay tuned...Goosie Girl's party pics will be coming soon...I'm tired already and it hasn't even happened yet...I better rest up! Lots to do!

Cuteness

Is this the cutest cupcake pedestal you've ever seen? I'm mean, really....with the pink tulle attached to the bottom? It's too much...I just love it! Would this not be perfect for a baby girl shower or a princess party? You could even shake it up and add other colors. What about black or orange tulle for halloween? The possibilities are endless. You know you could even use this on "the stand"...the Wilton Cupcake Tower... Who comes up with this? A+++++++ for them!

This is from the Creative Party Place...submitted by a reader...

cupcake tower

Yes! Can we say C-U-T-E????

I'm loving this arrangement! So simple...baby's breath in a vase with limes and a sweet ribbon...but what a statement it makes!

And what a nice touch this is...labels for the water bottles...love the pail too!

Sugarbaby's Cupcake Boutique

So I was looking at a past issue of Southern Lady and came across this article about a cupcake boutique that I loved reading about so much the first time. It is called Sugarbaby's Cupcake Boutique. It is by far the most adorable place I have ever seen...I would love to have an office, studio or even the inside of my house to look like their shop. Done in chartruse, fuschia, black & white, it is to die for! I just love everything about it! I've never had one of their cupcakes but if it tastes as good as their store looks, it would be divine!

Uh yes...I would like to order this entire room...
And this one...
And let's not forget this one either!...
Can you imagine having the ambience of this cupcakery nearby? I would be there everyday ordering a delectable cupcake and cup of coffee and admiring the decor...
Are you getting the vibe that I really like the way Sugarbaby's looks? They even have an angel as their logo...how sweet is that? And their story...a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e! Lucky you if you live in the Houston area!!

Breast Cancer Awareness Cookies and Drawing Cookies

Sorry for the lack of posts! I have been busy, busy, busy! I wanted to share these cookies that I made for a friend for Breast Cancer Awareness month. She took them to both of her daughters' schools. How sweet is that?

Pretty in pink...and...pretty in pink polkadots

This is two dozen cookies for one school...what a nice treat for the teachers and also a wonderful reminder to keep focused on the important things...

****************************************

I also wanted to share a pic of the cookies that Goosie Girl is giving away on the TomKat Design blog...this platter is being sent to Kim from TomKat Design. I hope that she likes them...

This is the wrapped, to-go platter of Goosie Girl's ghost cookies... They were all nestled in a priority mail box and shipped off...

These little sweet, spooky ghosts are ready to be seen, admired and eaten...
